I have been drinking and I have been involved in a motor vehicle accident. What should I tell the police?
A: You should give the police your license and registration and then say I want a lawyer. You should not tell the police anything about how the accident happened or even if you were driving. You should answer every question with I want a lawyer. No matter what the police threathens to do you should always respond with I want a lawyer. You should also refuse to peform roadside gymnastics, follow the pen with your eyes or blow into the hand held breath tester.
If you are arrested for DWI you are required to take the evidentiary breath tester at the station and/ or take a blood test.
