Owen Schmitt earned the nickname "Runaway Beer Truck" as a lead blocker for the West Virginia Mountaineers.  At 6 ft 2 inches, 247 pounds Schmitt can and does generate a great deal of mayhem on the playing field.  After graduating from West Virginia, Schmitt was drafted by the Seahawks as a Fullback.

On June 21, 2009 Schmitt was arrested in Washington State for DWI.  His BAC was around .15.  Schmit was allowed to plead guilty to reckless driving and must perform 24 hours community service, pay $2,000 in fines and costs and remain on probation for two years.
